Welcome to the Willow Court and Royal Derwent Hospital Study site...

This is my new Willow Court & Royal Derwent Hospital Blog.

Willow Court was located in New Norfolk, Tasmania, Australia.

Willow Court was built in 1830 as an invalid hopistal and soon expanded to accomdate the Insane. Willow Court takes its name from two willows planted by Lady Franklin, the wife of the Lieutenant-Governor, which were reputed to be two cuttings from the grave of Napoleon on Saint Helena.

Willow Court pre dates the well known site of Port Arthur.

The Willow Court Complex (WCC) and the adjoining Royal Derwent Hospital (RDH), was the oldest mental hospital in Australia and largest in the Southern Hemisphere, at the time of its closure in 2000-01 due to de-institutionlization.

This blog hopes to document and capture WCC & RDH's stories, experiences, news, information and Paranormal Activity, so please read and feel free to contribute.
